Understanding What Matters

Amelia G. Carlson, CPA

I’m Amelia Carlson, a certified CPA and the founder of Amelia G. Carlson, CPA. I work with individuals, families, and business owners, helping them navigate tax, accounting, and financial decisions with a practical, relationship-focused approach.

As a wife and mom raising a young family while building my practice, I understand firsthand how closely personal, financial, and professional decisions are intertwined. That lived experience is why I take a different approach with my clients.

After earning my accounting degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, I began my career in public accounting with CBIZ, a national accounting and advisory firm, where I built a strong technical foundation and gained experience working with a wide range of clients and tax matters. I later continued my career with a regional CPA firm before opening my own practice. But my technical skills serve a deeper purpose: to help people I care about make better decisions.

As a Central Coast resident, I'm proud to have built my practice here while serving clients both locally and beyond.

Coming from a place where family and relationships matter, I know how important it is to work with someone who gets it. That background allows me to give advice that actually fits my clients' lives, so I can help them make informed financial decisions and not just tell them what the numbers say.

My goal is to provide the standard of excellence clients should expect from their CPA while maintaining the accessibility, personal attention, and continuity that can sometimes be lost in a larger organization.

At the end of the day, I want to be the CPA you actually want to talk to, someone who understands your financial goals, respects your values, and helps you build the financial strategy your life deserves.

How I Work

I don't just prepare tax returns. I work with clients who value professional advice, ongoing communication, and a strategic partnership. I work to understand the whole picture: the business, the investments, the real estate, the family circumstances, and the long-term goals that influence the decisions that affect your life and finances.

Values

I believe clients should know and be able to reach their CPA. For local clients, I especially value meeting face-to-face, particularly at the beginning of a relationship. Building that connection helps me better understand the people I serve and creates the trust that makes a long-term professional relationship meaningful.
